frank. isn’t your average fashion brand. It’s a project that uses clothing to challenge the way we think about consumption. We take waste—things that should’ve been tossed—and turn it into something worth talking about.

Fashion has the power to change things. With frank., we’re making sure it’s used for good.

Why Fast Fashion fails us

MISSION

frank. is here to make you look twice. We use fashion to expose what the industry tries to hide—waste, exploitation, and the true cost of consumption. But we’re not about guilt trips or greenwashing.

Our mission is simple: turn the problem into a conversation and the conversation into action.

ABOUT

  • A Climate Nightmare

The fashion industry doesn’t just contribute to climate change—it accelerates it. It’s responsible for more CO2 emissions than all international flights and sea travel combined. In 2015, fashion production alone spewed out 1.2 billion tonnes of CO2 equivalents. That’s a staggering, terrifying number—and it’s a wake-up call we can’t ignore.

  • Producing just one cotton T-shirt can drain a mind-boggling 2,700 litres of water – that’s enough to keep someone hydrated for two and a half years! And it gets worse: conventional cotton farming isn’t just thirsty, it’s toxic. Pesticides and fertilisers get dumped into the soil, poisoning our planet and water supplies in the process. All this for one shirt? Not worth it.

  • Synthetic fibres like polyester make up 65% of textiles, and they’re a major culprit in the microplastic problem. Every time we wash these clothes, they release tiny plastic particles that escape water filters and end up in our oceans. The more we wear, the more we pollute.

  • Fast fashion doesn’t just harm the planet – it harms people, too. Workers in factories often deal with exposure to toxic chemicals, dyes, and pesticides, leading to long-term health issues like respiratory problems and skin conditions. And once clothes are discarded, they don’t just sit idly in landfills – they release harmful substances into the environment, polluting the air and soil and endangering those who work with or live near waste sites. Fast fashion’s impact extends far beyond production – it’s a health crisis too.

Who is frank.?

  • FOUNDER

I hope to get people thinking about taking responsibility for our planet, and that's how the idea for frank. came about.

During my training as a fashion designer, I quickly realised that the fashion world wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
I was feeling pretty dissatisfied and world-weary, so I started thinking about a really important question; What can I do to make a difference?

I believe that good design is the best way to connect with people. I'm looking to make a positive impact on the world through sustainable design and innovative concepts.

While I was studying Communication Design, I started to get a feel for what I wanted to do with my project. I wanted to share my fashion knowledge in a constructive and encouraging way, rather than in a critical manner.

Change can only happen where the mind strives for it. Only those who understand that they can make a difference will act responsibly – and see the privilege that comes with it.

So frank. was born, with a mission to get people to ask themselves; What can I do to make a difference?

Because, let's face it, if we don't start asking the tough questions, who will?

  • Design is more than just making things look pretty—it’s about telling stories, shaping perspectives, and standing for something important. It’s a way to communicate what matters, which is why frank. isn’t just a project to me; it’s a cause I believe in.

The fast fashion industry thrives on misinformation and detachment, and as a designer, I see it as my responsibility to challenge that. Design has the power to bring awareness, to make people stop and rethink the way they see fashion—and that’s exactly what frank. sets out to do.

Lynn and I met during our graphic design studies, and from the beginning, we knew we made a great team. When she asked me to help with a frank. photoshoot, I didn’t hesitate. The project stood for something real, something urgent.

Since then, I’ve been involved in many ways—behind the camera, as a creative collaborator, or just an extra set of hands when needed. No matter the role, I’m proud to be part of something that challenges the way we think about fashion and its impact.

At frank., we prefer to stay in the background and let the project speak for itself. frank. is confident, loud, and unapologetic—it doesn’t shy away from the uncomfortable truths. We believe in letting the message take center stage, not the people behind it.

But every now and then, there are moments when we have to step forward—whether it's giving talks, leading workshops, or engaging in conversations. Because even though frank. is the voice, we’re the ones pushing the conversation forward.

  • I first learned about frank. through the media and soon connected with Lynn and Caro. We quickly discovered that we share the same values when it comes to sustainability and ethics in fashion. It felt natural to become part of frank. and contribute to its mission.

As an editorial designer, I am passionate about making information on fair fashion more accessible—cutting through the overwhelming complexity and bringing clarity. Because even small steps can make a big difference when enough people walk the path together.
